Non-holonomic equations for the normal extremals in geometric control theory

Applying the point of view non-holonomic mechanics, we arrive at a new and simple system equations for normal sub-Riemannian geodesics. These use partial connection that is canonically available, given choice complement to distribution. We also describe conditions which, if satisfied, mean even this determined canonically, determines distinguished on tangent bundle. The geodesic obtained split into mutually driving horizontal complementary parts. method facilitates efficient choices adapted coframes reveals structures are reminiscent tractor calculi. illustrate features examples, including some with non-constant symbols.
